About Us

Dutch Physical Therapy was so named because owners Philippe Veeters and Mirjam Maassen, who founded the clinic, are both from the Netherlands. Both Philippe and Mirjam are graduates of H.I.G.O. in the Netherlands. H.I.G.O is a Higher Institute for Health Education, a division and private school in the Netherlands, formerly known as the Koolen Institute for Manual and Fysiotherapy. After working in the Netherlands, Germany, and then here, Philippe is now an international mentor for physical therapy students and lectures nationwide on back and neck pain and SI-joint dysfunction. Since her Dutch training, Maassen has received strong post-graduate training in all major mechanical diagnosis and treatment techniques and specializes in their use, with certification also in biofeedback and pelvic floor dysfunction.

Our physical therapists are specialized in disc-related problems of the spine including posture conditions (i.e. kyfosis and scoliosis), as well as providing treatment for other nervous system related problems (i.e. CVA, neuropathy, and Bells Palsy). We are also specialized in treating sports-related injuries, particularly football, golf, tennis, baseball, soccer, ballet, and martial arts.

We at Dutch Physical Therapy feel that it is important to give back to our patients and the community. Our patients leave with a greater understanding of how their body works and the ability to self-treat themselves. Education is the key to the success of our patients. In keeping with their love of giving education, Dutch Physical Therapy will host, in coordination with local physicians, a series of free seminars in the coming months that will help to educate the community about ways to improve their quality of living. Another way that Dutch Physical Therapy will be giving back is they will begin a Saturday morning Free Football Clinic.
